Nordstrom Donates $10,000 to FOLUSA's Books for Babies Program; FOLUSA Launches Babies Love Books Website

November 1, 2007

In honor of the publication of Nordstrom's first book, Once Upon a Holiday the Moon Fell Out of the Sky, the company has donated $10,000 to support FOLUSA's Books for Babies program. Stickers on the books, which go on sale November 1, will inform shoppers about Nordstrom's support.

In addition to the national exposure for both FOLUSA and our Books for Babies program, we have created Babies Love Books, a new website that provides parents and caregivers with information on the importance of reading to their babies, tips on how to read to their babies, recommended, age appropriate titles, for babies beginning with birth for each developmental stage through kindergarten, and links to other resources for new parents.

FOLUSA will award 20 matching grants during the course of one year of $500 each to Friends of Library groups, librarians, women's clubs and other official entities with an interest in early childhood literacy to purchase Books for Babies kits to distribute in their communities. Details about matching grants will be available January 1, 2008, online at www.folusa.org and www.babieslovebooks.org.
