Finding Books

If you are a new parent, or a seasoned parent or caregiver looking for new reading suggestions, look no further! Here are some tips to help you find books in your community:
  • Check our reading lists: Follow the links at left to a variety of reading lists by age level.

  • Visit your library: The children's librarian is specially trained to help you find age appropriate books for your children. Best of all - borrowing books is free!

  • Join a storytime program: Check with your library about free lapsit and toddler storytimes. Some may require advance registration. Programs generally include stories, songs, and fingerplays and provide an excellent opportunity for parents to have one-on-one learning time with babies and toddlers.

  • Shop a used book sale: Ask your children's librarian or contact your Friends of the Library to find out about the next used book sale in your community. With afforable prices, this is a great place to purchase gently used books to build a home library.

  • Share your favorites: Do you recall favorite stories from your childhood? Dust off the covers (or borrow from the library) of your favorite stories and share with your children.
